The park covers an area of approximately 14,598 hectares, is mainly mountainous terrain between Lake Maggiore, Val d'Ossola and Val Cannobina in the heart of Verbania.
Established in 1992 to protect the area "wilderness" of Italy's largest, includes in its territory in 13 municipalities (Aurano, Beura-Cardezza, Caprezzo, Cossogno, Cursolo-Orasso, Intragna Malesco Miazzina, Premosello-Chiovenda, San Bernardino Verbano Santa Maria Maggiore, Trontano, Vogogna).
The most convenient location for access is a fraction of the Municipality of Cossogno, Stork.
